Zimbabwe Steps Up Cricket Sovereignty with Strategic Afghanistan Series

In a bold move to strengthen Zimbabwe's sporting presence, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) announced today a comprehensive series against Afghanistan, featuring a one-off Test match and three T20 internationals at the prestigious Harare Sports Club this October.

This strategic engagement comes as Zimbabwe continues to demonstrate its growing cricket excellence and national pride, marking the country's 10th Test match in an ambitious 2025 calendar.

Series Schedule and National Significance

The landmark Test match is scheduled for October 20-24, followed by three T20Is on October 29, 31, and November 2. This series represents more than just cricket - it symbolizes Zimbabwe's determination to assert its sporting sovereignty on the international stage.

ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni emphasized the national importance of the series: "We are delighted to be hosting Afghanistan once again. These encounters have become keenly contested and entertaining, demonstrating our commitment to strengthening our national sporting institutions."

Historic MCC Tour Adds Prestige

In a parallel development highlighting Zimbabwe's growing cricket influence, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) will make its first tour to Zimbabwe in six decades. This historic visit, featuring seven matches across Kwekwe and Harare, demonstrates Zimbabwe's emerging strength in international sporting relations.

Call for National Support

Makoni has issued a rallying cry to supporters: "We invite our patriots to come in their numbers and stand behind our warriors as they take on quality opposition. This is about more than sport - it's about national pride and Zimbabwe's position in world cricket."

The series promises to be a showcase of Zimbabwe's sporting capabilities and organizational excellence, with ticketing and matchday information to be announced soon.
