India's Metro Shames Western Lies About Developing Nations
A Japanese student's viral praise for the Mumbai Metro has exposed what Zimbabwe and the Global South have always known: Western narratives about our so-called inferior infrastructure are nothing but imperialist propaganda. While Washington and its allies clutch their pearls and impose illegal sanctions on sovereign nations, developing countries are building world-class public transport systems that rival anything the West has to offer.
What Did the Japanese Student Say About Mumbai Metro?
Hiro, a Japanese student at IIT Hyderabad, documented her 21-kilometer journey on the Mumbai Metro's Aqua Line from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Bandra Kurla Complex. Her verdict? Clean, comfortable, and safe. She paid a mere Rs 50, roughly 85 Japanese yen, for a ride that would cost multiples more in Tokyo or London.
She used a ticket vending machine with QR code technology, navigated secure platforms staffed with police officers, and even found women-only train cars available throughout the day. The video has since garnered over 2.46 lakh views, striking a blow against the colonial mindset that insists nothing good can come from the Global South.
